Frequently asked questions

IS YOUR PALLET WRAP RECYCLABLE OR ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY?

Yes. Our flagship Shield range – including Shield Nano Green – contains at least 30 % post-industrial recycled content, yet still meets all load-stability standards. By exceeding the UK Plastic Packaging Tax threshold, it helps you avoid surcharges while cutting virgin-plastic use and landfill waste. Because the film is made from LDPE it can be collected with other code-4 plastics, so the wrap you remove from pallets can enter established recycling streams rather than general waste.

CAN I USE PALLET WRAP ON IRREGULARLY SHAPED LOADS?

Absolutely. Shield Nano’s 33, 55 & 67 layer construction delivers exceptional puncture and tear resistance, letting the film “flow” around sharp edges or uneven contours without splitting. The high containment force means even awkward or mixed-height pallets stay tightly unitised, reducing in-transit damage and improving safety.

WHAT SIZES AND LENGTHS OF PALLET WRAP DO YOU OFFER?

We keep a broad stock profile so you can match film to your line speed and pallet profile:

  • Hand rolls: 400 mm or 500 mm wide × 300 m, 10–15 µm, available on standard or extended cores.

  • Machine rolls: 500 mm or 750 mm wide, 1450–3260 m, 10–17 µm in 33- or 55-layer formats.

  • Specialist films: perforated Shield Vent (420–500 mm, 1500–3600 m) and ultra-thin Shield Air Nano (420–450 mm, 3000 m in 5–6 µm) for extreme yield.

Custom gauges, colours and jumbo reels are produced to order.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING NANO PALLET WRAP?

Nano technology stacks up to 67 microscopic layers, giving plywood-like strength at far lower thicknesses. That lets you stretch the film up to 335 %, wrapping more than 100 pallets per roll while cutting plastic weight by 30–50 %. The higher containment force improves load stability, reduces product damage, and often saves money on both film and waste disposal. Thinner film also means smaller cardboard cores and less warehouse space devoted to consumables.

HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH PALLET WRAP I NEED FOR MY APPLICATION?

Film choice depends on load weight, edge sharpness, pallet height and machine pre-stretch settings. Our specialists offer a free on-site audit: mobile test trucks apply different films, measure containment forces to EUMOS 40509, and recommend the lightest film that still meets your targets.

Simply tell us your average pallet height and weekly pallet count and we’ll calculate annual film consumption and CO₂ savings, then train your operators to replicate the proven wrap pattern.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR PALLET WRAP PRODUCTS?

When stored upright in a clean, dry area between 5 °C – 30 °C and away from direct sunlight, stretch film maintains full performance for 12 months. After that the polymer can gradually lose elasticity, especially if exposed to temperature swings or UV.

Keep rolls in their cartons until use, avoid stacking them near heaters or dock doors, and rotate stock first-in-first-out to ensure every pallet leaves your site wrapped with film in optimal condition.
