At Castle we actively support community initiatives and many of our colleagues regularly participate in charity fundraising, either individually, or by involving our enthusiastic team here at Castle! Recently we’ve been involved in supporting two charity fundraising events, one on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support and the second for The British Heart Foundation’s Bagit Beatit Challenge.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning
We were proud to host our first Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning on Friday 22nd September, as part of one of the biggest fundraising events for people facing cancer in the world. As you may know, cancer affects one in three of us in the UK, a staggering statistic, and our colleagues aimed to do their part to raise awareness by baking some outstanding cakes, cookies, shortbread and other tempting delicious treats. Whilst the rest of the team were happy to make generous donations with every slice!
Huge thanks go to everyone who baked (or consumed!) the delicious goodies on offer and we’re delighted to announce we raised a substantial amount of £263.35!
Fighting Heart Disease with Unwanted Items
Last year the Rapid Relief Team supported the British Heart Foundation’s Bagathon event and made a donation of 16,000 bags! This year, the British Heart Foundation have given the Rapid Relief Team an even larger target of 20,000 bags to collect throughout the UK.
Our Sales Consultant and Team Leader, Lloyd Simpson, kindly offered to organise a collection on behalf of Castle for the second successive year, encouraging us all to clear out our clutter. We were pleased to donate over 30 bags including CD’s, DVD’s books, toys, clothes and accessories. Again, a huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped Lloyd with his quest to support this worthwhile cause.
The sense of camaraderie, enjoyment and achievement in being involved in both of these charitable events has had a positive impact on both the charities and on our team here at Castle. Once again a huge well done to everyone who helped to organise the events and took part. Plus please do watch this space as we plan our next charitable event!
